EMFC players teamed up with other local players to lead the Southeast team to a Gold Medal in the 2010 Bay State Summer Games.
The 2010 Bay State Summer Games soccer tournament was held this past weekend at Waltham High School, and for the second straight year the Southeast region won the Gold Medal. This year’s team was once again loaded with talent from EMFC. The coaching staff was made up of EMFC coaches Mike Madden, Jeff Camara and Paul Pinhiero and the team itself was also filled with players from EMFC. Representing EMFC on the field were Nick Savage (Milton), Ryan Madden (Milton), Matt Malloy (Canton), Andrew Vinciguerra (Canton), Marc Monestime (Jamaica Plain), John Mbengham (Randolph) and Justin Lavallee (Wrentham) all played very big roles in the team’s success. The Southeast team played great all weekend posting a record of 5 wins and 1 loss while scoring 12 goals and only allowing 3. The Southeast team had to play a tough, talented Metro team on Saturday and again on Sunday to win the Gold. The Metro team was loaded with talent, including players from the New England Revolution Academy and the Bolts Academy teams. The EMFC boys played equally as good, working incredibly hard to earn a 1-0 win on Saturday and a penalty shootout win on Sunday. Ryan Madden led the EMFC boys in scoring over the weekend with 3 goals including converting his penalty attempt in the final. John Mbengham scored twice and added an assist before an injury sidelined him for the rest of tournament on Friday. Justin Lavallee had 2 assists and just missed scoring, driving a headed ball off the crossbar. Matt Malloy added assist playing out of the midfield, while Andrew Vinciguerra and Nick Savage were great playing in the back, particularly in Sunday final when matched up against the Metro's high powered strikers. Congratulations to our EMFC players and coaches and the rest of the Southeast team for their back to back Bay State Summer Games Championships! |
